Sales up at independent retailer

Independent furniture retailer Stokers has reported a growth in turnover as sales rose beyond £60m.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 30 April 2026, total sales increased 3.3% to £61.3m from £59.3m in 2025.

Pre-tax profit resulted at £5m, up from £4.2m recorded against the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company said: “In what is a very challenging retail market, with both domestic and international pressures, the company continues to maintain a very strong balance sheet with net assets of over £22m (2025: £21m).

“Cash remains steady at £2.3m (2025: £2.1m) and the company can call upon over £19m of cash from the parent company at any point.

“For this reason, the directors are confident that the company can maintain its expansion plans and at the same time weather any storms the UK economy may endure.”
