UK searches of furniture during July 2026 saw garden furniture perform well for a seventh straight month, while ‘how to’ searches performed strongly indicating an opportunity to educate consumers.
According to Google search data analysed by Big Furniture Group, ‘garden furniture’ remained the highest search term, but did dip by 4% compared to the same month last year.
Top searches included ‘oak furniture’ – up 10%, ‘furniture village’ – up 10%, ‘furniture land’ – up 4%, ‘bedroom furniture’ – up 7% and ‘oak furniture land’.
As for rising searches, ‘where to donate furniture’ rose 1,350%, while ‘where to find cheap furniture’ increased 1,200%. Other searches included ‘how to clean outdoor furniture’ – up 600%, ‘how to polish wood furniture’ – up 350%, and ‘best deals on furniture’ – up 110%.
Other search terms Big Furniture Group reviewed included mattresses, pillows, bedroom furniture, dining furniture, living room furniture, sofas, carpets and flooring.
Mattresses
The most searched term was ‘bed mattress’, although this did decline 7% on the last year. Other terms included ‘double mattress’ – up 4%, ‘mattress double’ – up 1%, ‘king mattress’ – up 2%, and ‘mattress topper’ – down 3%.
As for rising searches, ‘hastens mattress’ rose 650%, while ‘how to choose a mattress’ – up 350%, ‘what is a coil mattress’ – up 300%, and ‘how to clean a mattress’ – up 130% all performed strongly. Other high search terms included ‘best mattress toppers’ – up 100%, ‘premier inn mattress cost’ – up 30% and ‘king size mattress’ – up 30%.
Pillows
The most searched term was ‘best pillow’, which increased 10% on last year. Other notable search terms included ‘neck pillow’ – down 2%, ‘bed pillow’ – down 10%, ‘memory foam pillow’ – up 20%, and ‘pillow cases’ – down 10%.
As for rising searches, ‘how to choose a pillow’ rose 300%, while ‘ergonomic memory foam pillow’ also grew 300%. The term ‘best pillow for side sleepers’ jumped 80%, with ‘best pillow for neck pain’ rising 60%.
Bedroom furniture
The most searched term was ‘bedroom furniture uk’, which rose 8% on last year. Other terms included ‘furniture sets bedroom’ – up 20%, ‘bedroom furniture sets’ – up 20%, and ‘white bedroom furniture’ – up 8%.
As for rising searches, ‘grey bedroom furniture set’, ‘grey gloss bedroom furniture’, and ‘laura Ashley bedroom furniture’ were all high breakout searches of more than 5,000%. Other notable searches included ‘girls bedroom furniture’ – up 450%, ‘bespoke bedroom furniture’ – up 120%, and ‘rustic bedroom furniture’ – up 100%.
Dining furniture
The most search term was ‘dining room table’, which was down 10% on the same time last year. Other terms included ‘dining room furniture uk’ – down 30%, ‘furniture village’ – down 20%, ‘oak furniture land’ – down 20%, and ‘oak furniture land dining table’ – up 30%.
As for rising searches, ‘dining room furniture sets’ was the only notable search.
Living room furniture
The most search term was ‘oak furniture’, which fell 10% on the same time last year. Other searches included ‘oak living room furniture’ – down 20%, ‘living room oak furniture’ – down 20%, ‘living room furniture sets’ – up 2%, and ‘black living room furniture’ down 30%.
As for rising searches, ‘living room furniture layout’ rose 60%, while ‘living room furniture sets uk’ increased 40%. Other notable searches included ‘next furniture’ – up 20%, ‘cheap living room furniture’ – up 10%, ‘wooden living room furniture’ – up 7%, and ‘ikea’ – down 1%.
Sofas
The most search term was ‘sofa bed’, which rose 7% against the same month last year. Other popular searches included ‘corner sofa’, ‘leather sofa’, ‘garden sofa’, and ‘sofa sale’.
As for rising searches, ‘camping sofa’ – up 50%, ‘koala sofa bed’ – up 40%, and ‘blow up sofa’ – up 40% were the highest. Other terms included ‘two seater sofa bed’ – up 30%, ‘furniture village corner sofa’ – up 30%, and ‘sofa beds’ – up 20%.
Carpets
The most search term was ‘carpet cleaner’, which rose 4% on the same month last year. Popular searches included ‘rug’ – up 9%, ‘carpets’ – down 4%, ‘carpet shop’ – up 5%, ‘stairs carpet’ – up 1%, and ‘how to clean a carpet’ – up 80%.
As for rising searches, ‘how to remove pet hair from carpet’ increased 1,450%, while ‘how to remove carpet stains’ rose 450%.
Flooring
The most search term was ‘laminate flooring’, which rose 1% on last year. The terms ‘vinyl’ – up 10%, ‘vinyl flooring’ – up 1%, and ‘wood flooring’ – down 9% were other popular searches.
As for rising searches, ‘how to clean bamboo flooring’ rose 1,200% and ‘how to clean vinyl flooring’ increased 650%. The terms ‘cork flooring’ – up 90%, and ‘herringbone lino flooring’ – up 60%, were other high searches.
