Dura drives forward with new Sales Director

Paul Mason, Sales Director at Dura Beds, talks about his recent appointment and plans moving forward now in the role.

With over 30 years of experience in the UK bed and sleep industry, including roles at Harrison Spinks and Highgrove Beds, Paul Mason has been appointed as the new Sales Director at bed manufacturer Dura Beds. Having joined in April 2026, Paul said it felt like a “natural next step”, with the opportunity an “exciting” prospect to be part of a company that has ambitious plans for the future. A few months into the role, we found out more.

What are your key responsibilities as Sales Director?

My role is to help shape the commercial direction of Dura Beds, leading our sales strategy while building even stronger relationships with retail partners across the UK. This includes overseeing our national sales team and agents, supporting key accounts, developing new product ranges, managing pricing strategies and ensuring we continue to deliver the high levels of service our retail partners expect.

A key part of my role is also identifying opportunities for growth, listening to market feedback and working closely with our product development and manufacturing teams to ensure we’re producing products that meet changing consumer demand.

Ultimately, my objective is to ensure Dura Beds is recognised not only for manufacturing quality British-made beds, but also for being one of the easiest, most proactive and most trusted businesses for retailers to work with.

I’ve always believed that great products open doors, but great relationships build successful businesses. That’s the philosophy I’ve followed throughout my career, and it’s one I’ll continue to bring to Dura Beds.

Even after more than 30 years in the industry, I still genuinely enjoy working closely with retailers, understanding the challenges they face and helping them grow through innovative products, trusted partnerships and exceptional service. That’s what continues to motivate me, and it’s exactly what makes this role at Dura Beds so exciting.

Why did you join Dura Beds?

What attracted me most was the ambition within the business. There is a genuine desire to invest, innovate and continue growing, while still maintaining the family values and customer-first approach that have made the company successful. It was an exciting opportunity to become part of a business with significant potential and help shape the next stage of its growth.

What can retailers expect from Dura Beds?

Retail partners can expect to see continued investment in product development, stronger merchandising and point-of-sale support, more exclusive retail collections and an even greater emphasis on training and customer service.

Our ambition is to make Dura Beds the benchmark for service, innovation and partnership within the UK bedding industry. We want to be recognised not only for the quality of our products, but for the value we bring to our retail partners’ businesses every day. If we can help our retail partners grow, we’ll continue to grow alongside them.

How has business been so far this year?

It’s been an encouraging start to the year. While the market remains competitive, we’re seeing strong engagement from both our long-standing retail partners and new businesses looking to work with Dura Beds. We’ve been pleased with the positive response to our strategy, and the conversations we’re having across the industry give us real confidence for the months ahead.

What’s next for Dura Beds?

We’ve continued to invest across the business, particularly in product development, branding, merchandising and retail partner support. Behind the scenes, we’ve been strengthening our product offering, developing new showroom concepts and enhancing our point-of-sale materials to help retailers maximise their displays and improve the consumer buying experience.

Innovation sits at the heart of everything we’re doing, and I can genuinely say we have some of the most exciting product developments I’ve seen during my career currently taking shape. While it’s a little too early to reveal the details, we’re working on a number of new collections and concepts that have been designed around changing consumer expectations, combining exceptional comfort, premium aesthetics and meaningful innovation. These aren’t simply line extensions, they represent a significant step forward in both product design and the way retailers can present and sell them.

We’re investing heavily in research, materials and retail presentation to ensure that when these products launch, they genuinely offer something different to the market. Visitors to the NBF Bed Show this September will be among the first to experience these exciting new developments as we unveil what we believe will be the most significant product launch in Dura Beds’ recent history.

For us, this isn’t just about launching new products, it’s about demonstrating the direction Dura Beds is heading. We’re incredibly excited about what’s to come, and I think retailers will be too. If you’re visiting the NBF Bed Show this September, I’d encourage you to make Dura Beds one of your first stops. You won’t want to miss what we’ve been working on.

Final thought…

I’d like to thank all of our retail partners for their continued support. Their trust, feedback and partnership play a huge part in shaping the direction of our business, and we’re excited to continue building those relationships as we move forward together.

The UK bedding industry has always thrived on innovation, and I genuinely believe Dura Beds’ next chapter will be our most exciting yet. We’re building something special, and I can’t wait to share it with the industry this September.
