Swedish furniture retailer IKEA has confirmed the opening date of its new store in Ireland.
Situated at Gateway Retail Park in Galway, the new store, which marks its first in the city, officially opens on 27 August 2026.
The new store, IKEA’s eighth in Ireland, will create 13 jobs for the local area and will offer around 250 products in its smaller Plan and Order shop format.
The new store will also be IKEA’s largest location outside Dublin and the first in the West of Ireland to offer the Plan and Order Point experience.
Jayne Owen Gauld, Market Manager, IKEA Ireland, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be bringing our eighth Plan and Order Point to Galway. The city has a dynamic, thriving community, and we have designed this store specifically to meet the needs of the West of Ireland.
“Set across two levels, customers can work directly with our design specialists to plan major projects like kitchens and wardrobes, while immediately shopping 250 home accessories and key furniture lines.”
